For the frames of our lanterns, we primarily use bamboo, a rapidly renewable resource. Bamboo grows at an astonishing rate, often reaching maturity in just a few years. This makes it an ideal alternative to traditional wood, which may come from slow-growing trees. By using bamboo, we significantly reduce the pressure on forest resources. Moreover, bamboo is a natural and biodegradable material. When a bamboo-framed lantern reaches the end of its life cycle, it can be broken down naturally without leaving harmful residues in the environment.
The paper used for our lanterns is sourced from recycled materials or sustainably managed forests. Recycled paper helps to reduce the demand for new paper production, which in turn saves trees, water, and energy. For paper sourced from forests, we ensure that the forests are managed in an environmentally friendly way, with proper re-planting and conservation measures in place.
The dyes and inks used for coloring and decorating our lanterns are all non-toxic and water-based. This ensures that during the production process, there are no harmful chemical emissions. These eco-friendly dyes and inks also mean that our lanterns are safe for use around children and pets, and when the lanterns are disposed of, they do not contaminate the soil or water sources.
In addition to the materials themselves, our manufacturing process is designed to minimize waste. Leftover bamboo scraps are either reused in smaller-scale products or composted, while excess paper is recycled within our facilities.
